When thinking of the December Big Book Giveaway we wanted it to be really special, as is all of our giveaways. No December is complete with out a myriad of Jan Brett books being read by the fire. Each one of my precious children have always considered “Jan” a friend and when her beautifully illustrated postcards would come in the mail announcing her latest release, my children would cherish and horde their special message from their favorite author. My older girls still have those postcards.

    1. My youngest daughter just loved this book. She use to read it holding a little stuffed animal mouse.

  1. I *love* Jan Brett books! My favorite is…either The Mitten or Beauty & the Beast — her B&B is so beautiful, and it’s my favorite fairy tale 🙂

    1. Beauty and the Beast is my eldest daughters favorite. I think she captured the story so well.

  2. We love Fritz and the Beautiful Horses. It’s so hard to pick! Her illustrations are the best. It takes us twice as long to read her books because we are so engaged in looking at the pictures. Thanks for the opportunity to add her work to our shelves. Reading is a huge part of my and my four children’s lives.

    1. Fritz is one of my favorite stories. When I was little I always wanted a pony and I think in my minds eye it looked just like the horses in this book.

  3. It is very difficult to choose a favorite Jan Brett book, but I think mine would have to be The Mitten. I don’t know how many times I heard my elementary school librarian read it to us!

  4. I don’t have a favourite book. I haven’t come across these ones before, but what a find – they look absolutely gorgeous!

  10. My favorite is “Beauty and the Beast” I bought this years ago for my daughter after we’d seen the movie. I love Jan Brett’s rich illustrations and flowing narrative. I share her books with my middle school students (!) to jump start lessons on elements of fiction.

  11. 30! My goodness. Annie and the Wild Animals is our favourite for sure, although we haven’t read them all yet. Good luck everyone!
