It’s time! Hopefully everyone has had a chance to jump on the Dr Seuss bandwagon and enter to win our big, ginormous 30 book set of Dr Seuss Classics. In  anticipation of Dr. Seuss’s birthday on March 2nd, Jump Into A Book wanted to honor the late Theoder Seuss Geisel by sending these 30 classic books to one very lucky home..

THE WINNER IS:

                                      Dana Elting

We would also like to take this opportunity to shower you with some Seuss-inspired goodies. Are you ready? AWESOME.

As everyone knows, the much-anticipated The Lorax movie will be out some time this month. The whole premise of the movie is based on the book that is possibly Dr. Seuss’ most controversial work. This delightful book/movie consists of an argument between two creatures, the tree-loving Lorax and Ted, and idealistic young boy who goes searching for the extinct Truffula tree for the girl of his dreams Audrey.x All efforts to find the tree are blocked by the money-loving Once-ler who makes Thneeds from truffula trees.

The Lorax has become a popular modern metaphor for those concerned about the human impact on the environment. This also provides an excellent opportunity to educate kids as well.  As in the  movie The Lorax, our forests are precious and nothing to be taken for granted. After hearing their very comical ad on the radio, I discovered the positively delightful site call Discover The Forest.

discovertheforest.org

This wonderful site opens up the wonders of the forest and encourages them to dare to explore. Woodsey Owl gets in on the action with kid crafts and activities like identifing animal tracks and making leaf rubbings. The underlying message to kids is this; the forest is closer than you think. Take the time to “unplug” and reconnect with Nature.

“What was the Lorax?
And why was it there?
And why was it lifted and taken somewhere
from the far end of town where the Grickle-grass grows?
The Old Once-ler still lives here.
Ask him. He knows.”

A big THANK YOU to everyone who participated in our Dr Seuss Giveaway!
