For the Love of Reading woman, where’ve ya been all Week?

I’m happy to say that I’ve been with all of my favorite authors, publishers, and reading friends at Book Expo America.

Book Expo America is the largest book expo in the United States. Every June, we congregate to share our love of book creating, book reading, and extreme author worship.

This year I got to meet one of my favorite authors, Lois Lowry, you know her as the author of The Giver. She is now adding a final and fourth book to that series called Son. I attended the Children’s Author breakfast and I got to spend a moment with her later in the booth where we took this photo.

I had a few more happy author moments when I met both Daniel Handler aka Lemony Snickett,

and Eoin Colfer ( Pronounced Owen) Artemis Fowl creator.

Both as you can see are very very funny men and great writers. The last Artemis Fowl book, “The Last Guardian” is being released and then it’s on to a different series, dealing with the FBI.

Eoin also happens to be a great storyteller and speaker and will be live on tour this summer. If you see his bus rolling into town, stop everything for his one man show Fairies, Fiends, And Flatulence.

I wouldn’t miss that for anything. To give you a little peak at what you might be in for, have a look at his very funny telling of The Mischief of Children.

After a long week of devoted author worship and book making, waiting for me when I got home was this lovely photo from one of our  giveaway winners Wabi-Sabi Wanderings along with these very kind words.

WHAT A DELIGHT! I am in a flurry of flitting from one inspiring book to another, unable to settle on any one as they are ALL so inspiring. The children have also been inspired and are playing some of the games. Such a treasure. For what it’s worth, I plan to blog about this giveaway at some point too. Jump Into a Book is such a great resource.

It is my continued goal to put as many books in families, schools, and readers hands as I possibly can. Look for some great giveaways and book jumps coming up this summer and I might share some very special blogging guests. You won’t want to miss a moment.
P.S. Please visit out brand-spanking-new Jump Into a Book Pinterest Page too!

  1. What a dream of a week that must have been! Chuckled at the “extreme author worship” bit. I would have SO been there. Worshipping, I mean. But as it is, I’ve been utterly preoccupied with my extreme giveaway win 🙂
