Festival of Book

Happy February!

February is such a busy month for a variety of reasons. We have Valentines Day, Lincoln’s birthday, and also President’s day.

But in the literary world, there’s several very important days we look forward to.

ALA- Caldecott, Newbery, and Coretta Scott King awards are right up there with Christmas for me.

There’s also a very special event called International Book Giving Day. More details on that soon.

International Book Giving Day

But the event we are most excited about is one we created!

With the winter doldrums kicking in and families getting restless from being trapped indoors, we thought this would be a perfect time to create a Family Book Festival. And what better way to create a list of books to include in our  Family Book Festival is to ask fellow writers, authors, and bloggers!

So throughout the month of February, we will be enlisting the help, thoughts, and opinions from our participants on what books they remember the most from childhood, and what books are family favorites now.  My thought is that this compilation of books, favorite reads, and activities will provide not only a new reading list for the winter, but a sweet walk down memory lane for parents that will last the whole month of February.

During our Family Book Festival we plan to also include some fantastic book swaps, interviews, bookjump activities, and a Huge Ginormous Dr. Seuss Giveaway at the end. How fun is THAT?

So be sure and follow along! Use our hand-dandy “subscribe” button on the right sidebar so you don’t miss any of the book reviews, guest posts, or contests!

It’s time to celebrate the books in our lives. See you Soon !!!

  1. I’m excited about International Book Giving Day too! I have been donating books all week. I hope that it’s ok to do it early. I wasn’t sure if I would be able to do it all on one day.
