Can you believe that we are already at the end of the second week in January 2013? I’m happy to say it’s been a good one.
The first thing I have to share with you is this great poster of Peter Pan by My Modern Metropolis. Taking the entire text of Peter Pan and designed it into a poster of Peter and Tinker Bell. Isn’t it awesome? This is truly a spineless classic.
My next discovery I actually had to wait for. I learned of it’s appearance last week and had to wait until this week so I could share it. Susan Oliver of Chick Duck Goose is sharing a Winter’s Fairy Tale in 8 chapters with her readers. It is a wonderful adventure of a brother and sister who find themselves in a forest. Included with each section of the story is a wonderful story related craft with print-outs.
“Forest Fairy GodChicken”…that just cracks me up!
Next is an Event which I don’t want you to miss. Don’t worry, we’ll be celebrating it here but I thought I would give you a heads up. The not to be missed event is
The momentous occasion happens on Valentine’s Day February 14th. More details to come.
Who loves Betty White ?
I do !!! I found this incredible site by the Screen Actors Guild called Storyline Online.
Storyline Online: An online streaming video program featuring members of the Screen Actors Guild reading children’s books. Each book includes accompanying activities and lesson ideas. Readers include Betty White, Melissa Gilbert, Sean Astin, Elijah Wood, Jason Alexander, Ernest Borgnine, James Earl Jones, Robert Guillaume, Tia & Tamara Mowry, and more!
Do you have an emerging reader at your house ? Here are two great blog posts from Bernadette, Mom of 2 posh lil divas. We’re going through the alphabet sharing learning to read while having fun.
N-Z: Coming Next Week
Keeping with the alphabet here is another great list this time the ABC’s of graphic novels for kids by Mia Wen from Pragmatic Mom. 5 days of incredible books to share with your children. Go here for the entire line-up.
This week saw me back in the writer’s studio working on my next book. I like to spread out while I’m working. For the next book we’re heading to Egypt and I promise you it will be an incredible journey. I had a long talk today with graphic artist and co-collaborator on the Ultimate Guide Series Roscoe Welply and we have a lot in store for you. We just love putting these books together.
Lastly here is an incredible site. A Story Before Bedtime I wish this existed while my parents and grand-parents were alive. I would have loved to have them reading a story to my kids and recording it for all time. A story before bedtime has so many books to choose from. You and the child can record yourselves reading the book. You only pay for the book once you’re happy with the recording. They also have pre-recorded options as well. I tip my hat to author friend Julia Dweck who sent me an email about this site. Here’s her new book on A Story Before Bedtime which we are greatly loving.
